Most of us females swear by the undergarments produced by Victoria’s Secret. This is no longer the case.
A class action lawsuit has been brought against the famous company, due to an imperfection in their Angel’s Secret Embrace bras and their Very Sexy Extreme Push-Up bras. It seems as though people who had previously purchased these bras are experiencing symptoms including itching, rashes, welts, hives, and in some cases, permanent scarring. There are even comments from many customers on a medical site, where they are listing their own personal symptoms, resulting from the same bras. Rita Ritter is the main woman in the situation, and has hired a lawyer to put together a case. Her lawyer purchased the same styles of bras, and had them tested at a lab- the results are very unsettling. The bras tested positive for formaldehyde. Victoria’s Secret states that they do not use formaldehyde in their products, but the lab results negate this confirmation by the company. VS spokesperson also states, "We are sorry that a small number of people have had an issue and we want to help them determine the cause. Customer safety and satisfaction are always our primary concerns and we take seriously any issues our customers may have with our products."
The case will be reviewed in May, to see if there is any possibility of moving forward with it. As of now, the bras have not been removed, and still remain on the shelves.

Victoria's Secret is one of my favorite stores. This story amazed me when I first heard about it awhile back. I thought they would right away take this garment off the market since people are reacting to wearing the bras. I didn't know they still were selling it. Its not like if they did take it off the market their sales would go down. If a customer didn't get to buy that bra they would still find another bra similar to it that they offered. Almost everyone I know wears this brand including me. This story starts to make me think different about the store. I would love to read more about what happens to the one girls particular case.
This is insanely disturbing news. Personally, I have not shopped at Victoria’s Secret in years. I must wonder if it was done on purpose. I mean I cannot see any benefit of putting formaldehyde in bras. Obviously there is no benefit, except if it was being used to substitute a more expensive substance. But, I cannot think of anything formaldehyde can be substituted for. I also wonder if the formaldehyde originally came as a result of storage problems or a mix up at Victoria’s Secret suppliers. Why was the problem not caught before being sent to retail stores? Tests and inspections were instituted for a reason, how was something like this not caught? I am sure Victoria’s Secret will take a hard hit from this lawsuit. I hope that this combined will falling stocks does not put the company out of business. The last thing any retail business needs in today’s society is bad publicity.
